Library Opening Hours:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8.30 am till 3.30 pm excluding Recess

Tuesday and Thursday 8 am till 4.30 pm excluding Recess

The Library operates as a homework centre from 3.30 till 4.30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays under the voluntary supervision of teachers and Library staff. On occasions volunteers may not be available so the Library will close at 3.30, but this is advertised through Daily Notices.

Curriculum

The Teacher/Librarian is actively involved in the development of curriculum at the College through attendance at KLA co-ordinators meetings, faculty meetings and curriculum planning meetings. Library staff provide assistance to teachers in the planning of assignments and provision of resources. Library staff work with students to assist them in developing the skills of independent learning and research and promoting reading and literature.

Resources and Loans

The Library has a large variety of resources including newspapers, magazines, fiction, non-fiction, reference books, audio visual resources and much more. Loans are for a period of 2 weeks. If you have an overdue item you may not borrow a new item until the overdue item is returned. All lost or damaged resources must be paid for. Students may borrow up to 10 items at any time unless items are on “Closed Reserve” for assignments.

Printing and Photocopying

In the Library students have access to a coin operated colour printer and photocopier. The cost of printing or photocopying is 10 cents a page for black and white or 50 cents a page for colour. Library staff are happy to instruct and assist students with printing and copying.

Technology

The Library is connected to the school network by wireless so students can use their own laptops or borrow a library laptop for use anywhere in the Library. The range of online resources continues to grow.

2010 in the Library

The refurbishment of the College Library continues. The repainting has been completed, the new loans desk and the genius bar should be installed by the end of May. The purchase of new tables and chairs is currently being investigated. The Library is an exciting place to be at the moment.
