Selecting Electives for Year 9, 2011Dear Parents/Guardians Year 8 students are soon to begin deciding on elective subjects for their next stage of schooling. Commencing in Year 9, and continuing through to the end of Year 10, all students will complete two elective lines as a part of their study. You will need to familiarise yourselves with the requirements of study as set out by the NSW Board of Studies, as well as, the available courses that St Joseph’s College may operate. As part of your decision making process there will be a lot of information available. I would like to encourage you to make use of the upcoming ON SHOW evening where elective subjects that are currently operating will have displays that should provide good information about them. Attendance at this evening, together with the opportunity to talk with the staff involved and view some of the work completed, would be an excellent way to gather information for this important decision. The list of elective subjects available currently are:- Commerce Selection of subjects is not an easy process for most students. Some courses may be filled quickly and you need to be aware that there is a variety of constraints involved in the construction of classes. Students who actively pursue information, and decide early, are usually guaranteed their choices. Last minute alteration of choices may result in disappointment.
