UNIFORM CODE

Every student is expected to wear the complete uniform to and from school and for any official school function as required. Students should be neatly groomed wearing the College uniform with pride and for boys this means shirts are to be tucked inside the shorts, and for girls the socks are not to be worn as ankle socks (the stripes must be visible). Caps are to be free from graffiti.

Learning Mentor Group teachers check daily that the uniform is neat and clean.

Students who are not correctly attired must have a note with them from their parents explaining the reason for not wearing the proper uniform in the diary. This is to be shown to the homeroom teacher. If there is no note a lunchtime uniform detention is issued by the Year Coordinator. Parents are expected to support the College by promoting the wearing of full school uniform unless in exceptional circumstances.

The following points apply to both boys and girls:

  • Combinations of sports and usual uniform are not permitted. Tracksuit tops may be worn as an outer garment.

STUDENT PROCEDURES

The following procedures explain the answers to frequently asked questions which begin with ‘What do I do when….’

I am absent from school?

A signed note of explanation from the parent/carer must be given to your homeroom teacher on returning to school after an absence. If you are absent, your parents/caregivers must inform the College in the morning before 9:30am and a signed note must still be presented on your return to school. Unexplained absences are followed up by the College by phone during the morning.

I am late to school?

If you arrive late for school you must report to the office and obtain a late stamp. You must also present a note from parents/caregivers explaining the reason for your lateness in your diary. Repeated unexplained lateness may result in lunch detention.

I wish to leave school for some reason during the day?

Bring a signed note on the morning of the same day, notifying the time of departure. The note must be handed to your homeroom teacher. If you arrive to school late and sign in at Student Reception, the note must be signed by the Year Coordinator, prior to you having it recorded at Student Reception. Your parent/caregiver must sign you out from Parent Reception when they collect you from the College Office.

I wish to go home for lunch each day?

Permanent lunch permission is given only on the understanding that your parent is at home during the lunch break. The Deputy Principal requires a note to that effect from your parent. The usual rule applies with your parent signing you out and collecting you from Parent Reception.

I wish to be excused from Sport?

Bring a note of explanation, written in your diary. The Sports Coordinator will sign notes after morning homeroom outside Student Reception on the day. Your homeroom teacher will then record your early departure as usual.

I wish to be excused from Physical Education?

Bring a note of request with explanation in your diary to the teacher.

I have lost property?

Check the collection of lost property at reception.

I am feeling sick?

Seek assistance from any teacher. A teacher will write in your diary to show at Student Reception if you are to go to sickbay. A member of the office staff will then contact your parents. When your parent comes to collect you, they are to sign you out from Parent Reception.
